It became a HUGE hit after its prominent inclusion on The WB's "Dawson's Creek". They hit it big in 2000 as other similar-sounding bands such as Third Eye Band, Matchbox Twenty, and Vertical Horizon were also scoring HUGE hits on the pop and hot adult contemporary charts. 1	13	410	2000 & 2001	A.M. Radio It's from the 2000 CD "Songs From An American Movie Volume 1: Learning How To Smile", and it was the first # 1 smash of 2001 here on our chart. It included a sample of "Mr. Big Stuff" - a funky 1971 smash by Jean Knight. This entire song is one MASSIVE Memory of the 1970s. TOP 40 radio stations all across the nation embraced it, as did a few of the more courageous hot adult contemporary outlets. --	--	--	2000	Cha-Cha Slide Very rarely do I totally miss the boat on a pop culture phenomenon that sweeps the nation, but in this case I somehow fell asleep at the wheel. I went on a Caribbean cruise in May 2003 courtesy of Carnival's Imagination, and one night on the cruise this song came on in the Illusions Disco. The crowd went nuts to it, as they slid, hopped, stomped, and cha-cha'd their way across the dancefloor in every which way that Mr. C instructed them to do. Less than a month later I visited Downtown Disney's Pleasure Island, and I was stunned when it got cranked up at Motion. Once again the crowd knew exactly what to do. Several weeks later I tuned in to a rerun of ABC's laffer "My Wife & Kids", and I couldn't believe my eyes and ears when I saw Kyle and the kids doin' it too. It was a pop smash nationwide for over 9 months from January to October, and it was one of the most-played tracks on the radio for the entire year. 1	41	1275	2000 & 2001	Higher During the middle weekend of April 2000 a hard rock band by the name of Creed entered our chart for the first time with a track that would stay "Higher" than any other song that year. It hit # 1 in its 6TH week on the chart, and it stayed at the top for 11 weeks in a row. After falling to as low as # 4 for the next 6 weeks it returned to the top spot for 2 more weeks. Its 13 weeks at # 1 is 2ND only to Chumbawamba's "Tubthumping" as the longest-running # 1 smash in the entire history of our chart.	Creed
8	8	202	2000	Hottie Boombalottie Back in June 2000 a spokesman from Amherst Records and Kef himself wrote in to MASSIVESMASH.COM and thanked us immensely for including this rising hit on our chart at the time. It was from Kef's first official solo CD - "Poppaloopa". It was a regional radio hit in a few select pockets of the country including right here in South Florida. 2	34	869	2000 & 2001	If You're Gone Matchbox 20 (Twenty) were Rob Thomas, Kyle Cook, Adam Gaynor, Brian Yale, and Paul Doucette. They hit it big with 3 hot CDs - "Yourself Or Someone Like You" (1997), "Mad Season" (2000), and "More Than You Think You Are" (2002). Out of the first 2 CDs came 7 TOP 11 hit singles on our chart. 5 of the 7 hits spent from 5½ to 8 months apiece on our chart. 3	27	712	2000	It Feels So Good This is a true modern dance classic, and a former favourite at Mannequin's Dance Palace at Downtown Disney Pleasure Island in Florida. As is the case with most imported European trance and techno music club deejays in Tampa, Orlando, and Miami broke this record first long before it eventually found its way across the nation and became a U.S. TOP 10 pop smash. It was from Belgian-born Lara Fabian, and it was a track from her English-language self-titled debut album. It spent a MASSIVE 37 consecutive weeks on our chart (through November 2001). Jay Popoff (lead vocalist), his brother Jeremy Popoff (guitarist), Kevin Baldes (bassist), and Allen Shellenberger (drummer) are Lit, and they've been together since the late-1980s. "My Own Worst Enemy" was their biggest smash to date, as it spent 3 months at # 1 at U.S. modern rock radio and finished 1999 as the # 1 song of the year at the genre. 1	9	317	2000	Private Emotion Ricky Martin debuted on our chart during the 1ST week of April 1999 with his # 1 smash "Livin' La Vida Loca". He followed that up with "She's All I Ever Had" (# 10), "The Cup Of Life" (# 4), "Maria" (# 9), "Shake Your Bon-Bon" (# 2), "Private Emotion" (# 1), "She Bangs" (# 7), "Nobody Wants To Be Lonely" (# 3), and "Loaded" (# 10). He scored 9 TOP 10 hits in a row on our chart to June 2001. Of all 9 of his hits in a row my favourite of them all is this ballad - the last single that was released from his self-titled 1999 CD. 12	3	73	2000	Silly Ho It was the first radio single from their huge 1999 "Fanmail" CD, and it was a flop on the U.S. pop charts early on in 1999. So they released the long-running smash hits "No Scrubs", "Unpretty", and "Dear Lie". And then came the reemergence of "Silly Ho" on our chart - an anthemic track with unusually heavy-hitting hip hop hooks. 22	6	52	2000	Who Let The Dogs Out Rick Carey (vocalist), Omerit Hield (vocalist), Marvin Prosper (rapper), Herschel Small (guitarist), Patrick Carey (guitarist), Anthony 'Monks' Flowers (percussionist), Jeffrey Chea (keyboardist), Isaiah Taylor (bassist), and Colyn 'Mo' Grant (drummer) were the Baha Men. Back in Y2K they took the world by storm to scope out the mystery of the dogs running wild. For their efforts they took home the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording.	Baha Men
36	3	13	2000	You Make Me Love You ... More Don Philip was born aqui en Miami. He toured with and performed background vocals for Donna Allen, Peabo Bryson, Taylor Dayne, and Gloria Estefan. His first recording contract was with the legendary Jive Records label (The Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync, Britney Spears, etc.). He dueted with Britney Spears on her debut CD "Baby One More Time" on "I Will Still Love You". This was his solo hit from the Summer Of 2000. He performed it LIVE on Saturday August 12th 2000 in Jacksonville Florida at the "Music Mania 2000" concert which aired on FOX-TV a month later.	Don Philip
