La Bouche were the hottest dance act of 1995 and 1996. They scored with 4 lovable hits on our chart - "Sweet Dreams", "Be My Lover", "Where Do You Go (My Lovely)", and "Fallin' In Love (Again)". "Be My Lover" was their biggest smash. It was a gold single that spent nearly 9 months on the U.S. pop chart.

Todd & Toby Pipes, Kirk Tatom, and John Kirtland were Deep Blue Something. Late in 1995 they scored with a MASSIVE TOP 5 smash that spent nearly 9 months on the U.S. pop chart into 1996. Its lyrics were sure memorable: And I said, 'What about "Breakfast At Tiffany's" ?' She said, 'I think I remember the film, and as I recall I think we both kinda liked it.' And I said, 'Well that's the one thing we've got.'

Novelty - perhaps. Techno - definitely. Rednex was a rather large studio group from Sweden, and in 1994 they came up with the wacky idea to combine old-style western music with modern techno, and this is what they came up with. It was a # 1 smash in the U.K. for 3 weeks in January 1995. It also spent 20 weeks on the U.S. HOT 100 and peaked at # 25. I never got a chance to line dance at an all-night rave to it, and it's extremely doubtful that such an opportunity will ever exist.

Canadian Alanis Morissette was MASSIVE on our chart in 1995 and 1996, and again in 1998 and 1999. She posted 9 TOP 40 hits in the following chronological order - "Hand In My Pocket" (# 1), "You Oughta Know" (# 1), "Ironic" (# 13), "You Learn" (# 6), "Head Over Feet" (# 1), "Uninvited" (# 25), "Thank U (# 2), "Unsent" (# 25), and "So Pure" (# 26). 5 years after Alanis was last on our chart I've got to go with her first hit - "Hand In My Pocket" - as my all-time favourite of them all.

Dionne Farris provided the lead vocals for Arrested Development's "Tennessee". She went solo shortly after their MASSIVE success in 1992. She recorded her debut solo album - "Wild Seed - Wild Flower" - in 1994. It included this pop-rockin' smash that took off and became one of the hottest hits at U.S. TOP 40 radio during much of 1995.

Hootie & The Blowfish were widely credited for effectively killing the Grunge era here in the U.S. with their brand of 'happy rock'. Their Summer Of 1994 CD "Cracked Rear View" was the hottest CD in the nation well into 1995 as it sold 13 million plus copies. It catapulted this fledgling South Carolina band straight into the hit music stratosphere. This was the biggest smash from that debut CD. When our chart was resurrected online in November 1995 it was in our TOP 10. It remained on with us for our first 16 weekly charts.

1183321995 & 1996I Wanna B With U
This happy pop-dance tune was on the very first chart following its rejuvenation after a three-year hiatus from 1992 to 1995. It was at # 5 on that very first chart, and it spent eight weeks within the TOP 5. It also spent two weeks at # 1 during the final two weeks of 1995. Fun Factory consisted of a female French singer, two male dancers (one Italian and one German), and an American rapper.

3173661995 & 1996Macarena
It was written and recorded en Espaņol en Espaņa en 1993. A couple of years later Miami's Bayside Boys production duo got a hold of it, added female vocals to it en Ingles, and remixed it into an all-new song. That version would go on to become a runaway worldwide smash during much of 1996 into 1997. It spent 14 months on the U.S. pop chart including over 3 months at # 1. VH1 recently rated it as the greatest one-hit wonder ever, as well as the most 'awesomely bad # 1 song' ever. I call it as I see it - the greatest dance song ever made. The world hasn't been the same since.

The Goo Goo Dolls hit up our chart with 5 singles from 1995 to 2000 - including their last 4 from their 1998 smash CD "Dizzy Up The Girl". This was their long-running debut smash from "A Boy Named Goo" from late in 1995. It was on our chart for 27 non-consecutive weeks through June 1996, and it eventually peaked at # 2 in May 1996.

1235041995 & 1996One Of Us
It spent 23 weeks on our chart from December 1995 to May 1996, and it spent 2 weeks at # 1 in April. It finished the year as the # 7 song overall in 1996. It also reached # 4 on the U.S. pop chart. In this song Joan declared that 'God is great', 'God is good', and wondered aloud - 'What if God was one of us. Just a slob like one of us. Just a stranger on a bus. Tryin' to make his way home ?'

------1995Total Eclipse Of The Heart
Bonnie Tyler's original version of this tune from 1983 has established itself as a cult classic over the years - an anthem of the time. It spent nearly 7 months on the Billboard HOT 100 back then. 12 years later Nicki French remade the tune into a pop-techno smash, and it spent over 6 months on the the national hit music charts in 1995 peaking at # 2. (Our hit music chart was on hiatus at the time.)
